My beautiful friend April planned our girls trip to Cairo and it was honestly an incredible, once in a lifetime experience. As a child, I dreamed of becoming an archeologist. Seeing the pyramids in real life, touching the huge stones, and climbing into the tombs completely blew me away. We visited Giza and Saqqara with a private guide and driver that April had arranged. April also took us to some amazing shops where I found some real treasures:
Luxor Alabaster Art: Great selection of alabaster goods. I picked up some super cool alabaster camel figurines, even a beautiful pink one from Pakistan.
Souvenir D'egypte: No website, but this store is located at 84 Road 9 (next to dragon house) in Maadi. This store is a literal treasure trove! April brought us here to purchase beautiful nativity sets made from camel bone.
Mahmoud Farag Gallery: Located at 29 Mostafa Kamel St. (Al Tawfik building) cross street 9 Mahata Square across from Metro Market. Mahmoud is a talented artist who makes beautiful, hand stitched fabric appliqués at incredible prices. The quality is really fantastic. This shop offers personalized, custom orders and ships to everywhere in the world.
Cairo was one of my most favorite trips and I can't wait to visit Egypt again!
