SEE

Cambodia is a really special place and the people are so kind. My top recommendation for Cambodia is to hire our friend Sopheap as your driver and tour guide (WhatsApp +855 89 990 989). Sopheap will take care of all your transportation in Siem Reap (including to and from the airport) and will tour you around to all the popular sites. Here is a list of what we saw in Siem Reap in two days:

Day one:

Angkor Wat, south gate of Angkor Wat city, smiling face of Bayon, Bphoun, terrace of Elephant & Leper King, Ta Prohm (Tomb Raider temple). After dinner, visited the APOPO Rat Museum.

Day two:

North gate of Angkor Wat, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Eastern Mebon, Pre Rup, Banteay Srey temples.

You can visit Angkor Wat over a long weekend. Basically you need two days for touring and two days for flying, but this can be adjusted based on your schedule and what you'd like to see and do.

SHOP

The only shopping we did in Siem Reap is at the market near Pub Street. They have basic little tchotchkes and some locally made goods. Most of the stalls accept Apple Pay.

SAVOR

The Sugar Palm: Traditional Cambodian food, including the national dish, fish amok. Beautiful restaurant.

There are many different restaurants located on Pub Street. Take a tuk tuk from your hotel to Pub Street and check out the options that look good to you.

STAY

We stayed at the Courtyard Siem Reap which was basic but nice, newly renovated, and clean. The prices are always quite affordable throughout the year, though there are also fancier options available (i.e. Park Hyatt). There are often tuk tuk's available outside the Courtyard. Also, there's an ATM at a bank on the corner near the entrance of the hotel. The ATM issues cash in USD and most stores and restaurants also accept USD.
